A Growth-Promoting Relationship
How can therapy help my Partnership?
Couples can benefit from a supportive space to process seasons of struggle—around intimacy, communication, disconnect, childrearing, and more. Therapy doesn’t promise perfection, but it offers the opportunity for deeper understanding and healing.
About Couples Therapy
Relationships are deeply rewarding—but even the strongest partnerships can encounter seasons of struggle. Whether you're newly together or have spent years building a life, certain patterns can erode connection, trust, and fulfillment over time.
Whether you're navigating conflict, rebuilding after a rupture, or contemplating renewed commitment, separation, or divorce, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore your relationship’s challenges.
Therapy doesn’t promise perfection, but offers the opportunity for deeper understanding. Many couples leave feeling more grounded, connected, and hopeful, whether they continue together or chart a new path forward.
Why might couples need specialized support?
As a therapist, I work collaboratively with couples to identify the patterns that are keeping you stuck and help you reconnect with intention, clarity, and compassion. Together, we can work to:
• Develop healthier communication strategies that allow each partner to feel heard and understood
• Rekindle emotional and physical intimacy by identifying needs and rebuilding trust
• Explore and realign values to reduce emotional distance and strengthen your partnership
• Navigate parenting dynamics with a focus on teamwork and empathy
• Make thoughtful, supported decisions about your future—whether that means staying together or separating with dignity.
How do you approach therapy for couples?
Communication Difficulties: Communication issues are one of the leading reasons couples seek therapy. This might look like frequent arguments that escalate quickly, feeling unheard or misunderstood, or avoiding difficult conversations altogether. Over time, poor communication can create a cycle of resentment and emotional distance. According to the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), couples report communication issues in nearly 70% of therapy referrals.
Lack of Intimacy: Emotional and physical intimacy are essential to maintaining a secure bond. A decrease in sexual connection, affection, or emotional closeness can leave one or both partners feeling lonely or rejected. Intimacy struggles often stem from unspoken needs, past experiences, or lifestyle changes (like parenting or work stress) that disrupt the couple's ability to connect.

Emotional Disconnect: Many couples describe feeling more like roommates than partners. This emotional disconnection may present as silence, disengagement, or a general sense that the spark is gone. It's not uncommon for couples in long-term relationships to drift apart gradually, often without realizing it until the distance feels overwhelming.
Parenting Struggles: Raising children, especially those with unique or complex needs, can place enormous strain on a couple’s relationship. Differences in parenting styles, lack of time for one another, and the overwhelming demands of family life can lead to frustration, blame, and burnout. Parents often report feeling like they are managing parallel lives, which impacts both their romantic and co-parenting relationships.

As a therapist, I like to meet people in the here-and-now. I believe the past influences our current behaviors, but the present moment is the only place we can begin. I use a person-centered and psychodynamic approach to assist individuals in understanding their deep-rooted patterns.
